We are a group of LGBTQ+ activists committed to advancing the liberation of LGBTQ+ individuals in Ethiopia. Our mission is to secure our fundamental rights to live authentically, express our love, pursue meaningful employment and fulfilled life, and thrive within a society that champions respect and equality, free from the shackles of discrimination. Together, we strive to create a future where every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can flourish and contribute to a more inclusive and accepting community.

Why we are established

FAYIDA-ETHIOPIA was founded with a clear mission: to advocate for the elimination of discriminatory laws against the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and to actively campaign against all forms of discrimination. We recognize that discrimination often stems from ingrained societal scripts rooted in negative cultural, religious, and social perceptions surrounding sexual rights and gender identities. Our organization is dedicated to challenging and reshaping these narratives, fostering a more inclusive and respectful society for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

What we do:

FAYIDA-ETHIOPIA is at the forefront of driving change by raising awareness, championing the rights and equality of LGBTQ+ individuals and fighting against social injustices against sex workers and intersectional identities. By engaging in online advocacy, we proactively confront and question negative social norms that unfairly impact the LGBTQ+ community in Ethiopia. Our aim is to promote a society that is more inclusive and just, dismantling obstacles and nurturing an environment where diversity is not only accepted but also celebrated in order to foster a future that embraces equality for all.
